atoms for peace- default

thom yorke. an utter genius. producer, musician and philanthropist, he is (and always will be) highly respected within the music industry. well known for being the lead singer and writer for radiohead, he has made a smooth transition into the electronic genre of the industry. after doing mixes with dj's such as burial and four tet in his 'eraser' album, it is clear to see he has transferred to the more tranquil house side of electro. in march '10 he decided on his new 'superbands' name; atoms for peace. the band consists of the exceptional yorke, flea, godrich, joey waronker and mauro refosco, and certainly isn't a let down. this track released today 'default' is perfection in itself, and i cannot recommend enough for all electronic music fans. the dark bass, unusual key change, and 'different' drum composition, with his haunting echoing voice makes him stand out from the rest. but when has yorke never stood out?

ghostpoet-liiines

ghostpoet. where do i start with this talent. ridiculously incredible would be an understatement. i first discovered obaro ejimiwe's 'peanut butter blues & melancholy jam' album around march last year and have been in adoration with him ever since. having the pleasure to see him live at beacons festival, bumping into him during julio bashmore's set and stupidly making a fool of myself after him saying he recognised me; i can truly say the adoration has increased.  his set was amazing, and i underestimated his passion in live performances. the lyrics and persona he holds, keeps him above the 'typical' rapper and really makes himself an icon.  this particular song- the last on his album, has an exceptional progression (live was beyond words) and is bound to send shivers. unlike most 'rappers' he adds in the special electro-hop, keeping him firmly and perfectly away from typical 'mainstream' rappers. a special man worth keeping an eye on.

woodkid-iron (gucci vump remix)

the mellow tones of yoann lemoine's voice seem to make every song i have  listened to absolutely wonderful, and made him very popular among dj's. talented in many aspects (directing, graphic design and musician) he is definitely going to around for a while. some know him for his music and some for directing music videos such as katy perry's 'teenage dream'. this song in particular- from his 'iron EP' is a remix by gucci vump- mysterious gods in the dj industry. the twist that gv have put on the originally deep and emotional song keeps the tone but subconsciously causes you to shake about to the brazillian beats- all the while saving the harmonious trumpets, lemoine's ghostly lyrics, and the voice that can send shivers... magnificent.

new girl

okay, so this is a 'typical' music blog. pretty new to blogger but i'm sure i'll get the hang of it!
i'm a 20 year old student, i like the colour grey, thick eyebrows, and playing the piano.
i am fixated on electronic music, so if you don't like it- perhaps i could persuade you with links and gig/set reviews.
i will try and explain the tracks i post in the best possible way, but it is up to you to decide yey or nayyyyy. my aim is to post a song a day, and focus on that artist. i shall describe the mood of the song, nine times out of ten it will be based on my own mood.

if you're still reading thank you but even i got bored

anyway enough of the crap intro, enjoy
